The Buzzer Cover Illustration

I was commissioned by TransLink to create a transit-themed digital illustration to be used as a cover image for their print publication The Buzzer, as well as to be featured as a header on The Buzzer blog. I was tasked with designing an eye-catching illustration with a Fall theme that incorporated TransLink's Transport 2050 engagement campaign.

Following draft sketch reviews and feedback from the client, I settled on a design featuring cartoon transit vehicles discussing their visions of transportation in the future. The design captures the spirit of the Transport 2050 campaign as a platform to suggest future transportation priorities, while the art style reflects my personal transit-themed art work. I felt that the Fall theme would be best conveyed with a subtle background of falling maple leaves.

The final illustration was rendered using a graphics tablet in Photoshop, with Grey and Orange Pantone colour channels. I built an alternative layout for the web banner in Photoshop using elements from the original illustration.
